Since the weather is so good this week, we are going to try another evening climbing meet on Thursday with the new guidelines. Sunset is at 7.20pm, so were are going try and meet a bit earlier than usual. All welcome. Any intro members keen to come, please post below and we will try and coordinate to ensure you have someone to climb with. Warton Main Terrace is limestone sport climbing on bolts grade f4 – f6+, with a brilliant view. You will be able to second / top rope some routes if you’re not comfortable leading. Ideally, bring a helmet. The COVID actions we need to take for this meet are :
- All general government guidance applies (particularly for those in areas with enhanced restrictions e.g. those living in Pendle / Preston)
- No more than 30(!) people are to attend the meet in accordance with the BMC / Sport England guidance for organised sport.
- Any other meeting-up or socialising needs to be limited to groups of 6.
- We should limit ourselves to single pitch climbing to avoid small stances
- Each participant should bring their own hand sanitiser and use it
- Please bring sufficient kit of your own to avoid any sharing on the day (e.g. water bottles, helmets)
- If you are shielding, live with someone shielding, have any symptoms or live with anyone with symptoms – you should not attend
- Follow current government guidance on car sharing (i.e. avoid if possible, clean car before & after, open windows and wear a face covering)
- Please bring personal first aid kits, supplemented with gloves & safety glasses if possible
On the meet, there will be a briefing, which will cover the following :
- Remind people to stand 2m apart whenever possible
- Anyone with symptoms – go home
- Leave contact details with meet leader (Stephen Clark). These will be kept for 21 days and may be needed by NHS track and trace
- Keep within sensible limits and don’t take any unnecessary risks. This reduces the chance of requiring mountain rescue or others to attend
- Avoid touching gates & stiles where possible
- Try to use personal gear only where possible (e.g. own lead rack or map/compass)
At the end of the meet, participants are reminded :
- if they subsequently develop any COIVD symptoms, they should follow usual guidance, call 111, organise a test and cooperate with NHS Track & Trace if necessary
- Record of meet participants may be passed to the NHS if appropriate. This record will be destroyed after 21 days.
