STAIR HUT Friday June 10th to Sunday 12th

In anticipation of the launch of the latest Borrowdale Guide, Chris Campbell invites you to a special weekend meet at Stair to celebrate the pioneering work done by Bentley Beetham (1886-1963) in putting up so many Borrowdale climbs that culminated in his authoring of the third edition of the Fell & Rock Club guide to the valley in 1953.

This selection provides a good range of grades and locations from the valley bottom to higher crags. Not only was his contribution long-lasting – 1921-1952 but prodigious – 85 routes are attributed to him in the current Guide. Without wishing to be overly-prescriptive – this should be a chalk-free w/e. Tricouni-nailed boots and hemp rope are optional ! Any team is welcome to complete all routes in the w/e.
