Grasmoor from Stair hut

with No Comments

Summary: Summit of Grasmoor, via a circuit of the Coledale Fells.

Description: Scenically this walk is a gem with, weather permitting, lots of places to stop and admire the views. When leaving the top of Grasmoor it is worth taking the “old” path keeping more to the edge which gives you great views over to Whiteside and into Gasgale Gill. I remember many years being at Stair for New Year and new year’s day dawned cold, sunny and very clear – a perfect day. Quite a large group enjoyed this walk, getting down to Braithwaite as it was getting dark. After refreshments in the Coledale Hotel we returned to the hut in the dark.
