Summary: A challenging route crossing the catchments of the Grizdale, Langden and Calder valleys.  The route uses CROW Access land – be sure to check for temporary closure on the website: http://www.openaccess.naturalengland.org.uk/

Distance: 20km (12miles)

Duration: 7-8 hours

Total Ascent: 700m

Terrain: Moorland, which can be rough and very boggy in places, and rough tracks

Parking: Grizedale Bridge (OS Grid Ref: SD 5358 4907, W3W Locator: ‘flexibly.pitch.increased‘)

Refreshments: None!

Obstacles: This route covers some fairly remote areas of Bowland with no discernible paths for long stretches. Good navigation skills are essential. The final section of route requires multiple crossings of Fiendsdale Water – great care required.
