The venue is La Grave in the Ecrins region of the French Alps. This is one of the best known icefall climbing spots in Europe with many climbs from grade III upwards with approaches from 15 mins to 2 hours. Other venues can be reached from here. Ski resorts Les Deux Alpes, Alpe d’Huez and Serre Chevalier are close by car. Montgenevre too can be reached. |

The accommodation is to be at the Gite le Rocher. See website: http://gite.le.rocher.free.fr – we stayed there in 2007, so those who went that year will know it. We currently have 12 beds (in small dormitories of 4 or 6, each with own shower and wc) but I dare say more might be available. The rate is 16.20 Euros per person per night self catering in the large kitchen and dining room. Meals can be ordered if required.

Outbound: Manchester to Chambery, Sat 30th January; Depart 07.00; Arrive 10.00
Inbound : Chambery to Manchester, Sat 6th February; Depart 11.00; Arrive 12.05.
I need to know fairly soon a good idea of numbers of people committed to the trip so that I can confirm accommodation. Also the flight (currently about £100 inclusive of baggage (a generous 22kg + 10kg and booking fee) has already gone up a bit since last week.
